The home stretch of #WildernestBuild
We are in the home stretch of #WildernestBuild, and for months I’ve been telling people November was our move-in month after 3 whole years of planning and making it come to life.
Unfortunately, with a few snags and the fact it’s already the middle of the month, I’m thinking December might be a bit more realistic at this point.
Every vanity I ordered (I’m on #3) for the kids’ bathroom decided it wanted to be back ordered, which delayed getting a vanity top made and installed for it. The longer it takes to get the top, the longer our plumber has to wait to get in and finish up his final work.
Additionally, we had our appliances delivered from Lowe’s on Friday after a few weeks of waiting. When the delivery guys brought in a box the size of my dishwasher and told me that it was my double oven, I knew something was up. Sure enough, the manufacturer (whoever Lowe’s gets their product from) sent the wrong oven. And while we are being compensated for the mistake, it doesn’t change the fact it’s going to take over a week to get the correct oven in their hands and then a day or two to get it to us. Once again, this delays the plumber and electrician from finishing up their parts and getting our occupancy permit (and bank disbursement to pay all the people who have done work for us).
Alas, this comes with the territory of building and buttoning up all the last touches for a completed house. And honestly, if this was the biggest problem we had throughout this entire project, then we should consider ourselves extremely fortunate.
For now, I will enjoy my little bits of “mommy time” painting rooms and interior designing while we wait for moving day!
