They will always, always be whole
I spent this morning writing a post about our semi-transition to straw sippy cups, opened Instagram to make the post, and saw that it was National Sibling Day. When you have triplets, this isn’t just something you can skip!
I’ve had the pleasure of watching their inseparable bond for eight and a half months, but for them, it’s been even longer. How incredible it must be to already know, feel, and interact with not one, but two other human beings before you even make your appearance on Earth.
I’ll never forget the wave of emotion that overcame me that night in the NICU we put them all in the same Isolette, together, for the first time. While I’ll never truly understand what it’s like to be a triplet, these babies will forever be an extension of me - my heart - and my heart just knew that they felt whole again that night.
Through the hitting and the toy taking, the screaming and the tears, the “I hate yous” and “we’re not friends anymore,” they will always, always be whole.
